A Celebration of Philanthropy

Great Smokies 75th AnniversaryGreat Smoky Mountains National Park was created by and for the people. People like you! Schoolchildren gave pennies and nickels, private citizens gave generously of their limited resources, the States of Tennessee and North Carolina pitched in, and the Rockefeller family made up the difference to create the Park. As Great Smoky Mountains National Park celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2009, with your help Friends of the Smokies will continue its strong support for the Park’s ongoing needs. Friends of the Smokies is also supporting the celebration itself by helping to fund special public in-Park events, helping to provide the 75th Anniversary website, and helping to retain the Park’s 75th Anniversary coordinator Ann Froschauer.

A group of very special contributors is leading the charge to ensure that the Park’s 75th Anniversary is more than a celebration of its first three-quarters of a century. Our 75th Anniversary Sponsors are helping to preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park for the next 75 years…and beyond.

You, too, can support the 75th Anniversary with a gift to Friends of the Smokies. We suggest $75 for the 75th, but we’ll leave it up to you!

Smokies Trails ForeverOne of the signature projects of the Smokies’ 75th Anniversary is Trails Forever, which will be a lasting endowment to fund an additional permanent trail crew to perform major trail improvement projects in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can be part of Trails Forever with a gift of your time, or by making a contribution to help build the endowment fund. Visit Friends of the Smokies’ Trails Forever website for a glimpse at the work of Trails Forever and to learn how you can make a difference!
